[amerikanisch, 'friːstaɪlhaʊs], Variante der Chicagoer Housemusic, die 1990/91 in den Klubs von New Yorks spanischsprachigen Stadtvierteln aufkam und durch starke Einflüsse lateinamerikanischer Musik gekennzeichnet ist. Sie ist damit vor allem rhythmisch recht weit von der ursprünglichen Form der Housemusic entfernt — daher die Bezeichnung. Verbunden ist sie hauptsächlich mit den Namen von Produzenten wie Frankie Bones (* 1958), Lil Louis Vega (* 1962) und Kenny Dope Gonzales (* 1965). In Europa wurde diese House-Variante von der britischen Gruppe Royal House bekannt gemacht, deren »You Can Feel It« (1991) ein typisches Beispiel dafür ist.
